I have no idea on the colors either. Some of the chicks I just hatched are from a pair I got from Jerry. The three in my first hatch were from the same pair.

This was my second attempt hatching eggs. I only have two hens laying so some of the eggs were a bit old but I threw them in any way. I didn't think I would have much luck because the temp fluctuates a lot in this old house. There were three out of four fertile Serama eggs to hatch on my first attempt...one just stopped developing.
They started hatching last weekend and 14 of them hatched....I was shocked because I was just expecting maybe a couple to hatch...lolol...Even though I was checking them, I lost one to pasty butt.

I had been so caught up with the new chicks I hadn't unplugged the incubator so I did that Tuesday night. Wed night after cleaning and feeding them, one chick was chirping loud. I kept trying to find it but they all looked ok.
It was driving Dottie my mother hen Dachshund crazy and she was driving me crazy....lolol...She kept going to the incubator which was sitting by the brooder and whining. I finally checked the brooder and there was a little chick running around screaming bloody murder...lolol..so I'm back up to 14 chicks. I really feel bad because there was also another one that had piped but it didn't make it out of the shell. I'll know next time not to unplug it without checking the eggs first.

The humidity was between 40/50% and once it dropped down to 38%. Hatching was at 60/65%. I'm not sure what it was when the last one hatched...I was too busy getting the chick out to notice...lolol

Good luck on your hatch!!

Juliette is right those are just tooo darn cute!!! I love their names.

Had I expected them all to hatch, I wouldn't have had any to hatch...lolol...so just be careful as to how many eggs you put in or the same thing could happen to you!!

I have one than just want's to be held. He screams when I put him back in with the others but is quite as long as I hold him. It's also the smallest one. I'm typing with one hand now...lolol

Thank you! They sure do steal your heart quickly! Zephyr was an only chick for over a week so was our screamer. She is extremely spoiled because of all the extra attention she received but I'm happy to say she is also enjoying being "brooder Mom" to the little chicks. She no longer cries at night when I go to bed and doesn't need to be carried around constantly. I kinda miss it but at the same time it's nice

If it wasn't the smallest one I wouldn't be to concerned with it's crying. Other than being a lot smaller than the others I can't see anything wrong with it to make it cry and it doesn't as long as I hold it...lolol.... I don't think it's cold because I have the brooder at 99/100 and it's either 4/5 days old now. Maybe it just needs a long nap without all the others peeping....

This old house is drafty but as soon as it warms up some I'll get some pics of them.

Haha sounds just like Zephyr was at that age and now Aggie. I think some chicks are just more needy than others. I've encountered it from time to time. I actually like them better than the ones who want nothing to do with me lol.

Good news: The eggs that my Serama hen was brooding are hatching.

Bad news: The hen got up for too long, and the eggs and chicks got seriously chilled. I pulled the lot, and put them in the incubator. I lost one chick, but three look good. One egg is pipped but hasn't hatched yet, so the jury's still out on that one. Do you think she'll take them back, or is she more likely to be a lost cause as far as this clutch is concerned?
