You have eggs from Jen, right? When I hatched eggs from her I locked down at the end of day 18 like I normally would, and they hatched on day 21.

Those are some cute chicks!!

Thank you! I loved the hatching process and look forward to seeing how some of them will grow up.

Yeah, it still amazes me how much they change as they grow. I love all the different colors you can get.

I unsubscribed from this thread, when it started getting a little hot under the collar, I figured it would be shut down.... but I'm glad to see its back to the same feeling it was before.

My little green-legged serama chicken will never be a SQ Serama, no matter how much I love her and think she's the most adorable chicken in the world, but that's okay with me! I don't have breeder aspirations! I got her from a breeder that does have aspirations for SQ Seramas, and I'm happy to accept all adorable breeding project "rejects", and love them until the day our creator decides he wants them back

I give credit to breeders who have a particular goal in mind (APA standard), and are able to pick and choose to achieve the SOP. That is a hard thing to do! The Serama breed especially, gives us so many variances to try to hone and perfect!

I also think there will always be a market for less than perfect birds too, as long as the birds are not misrepresented. Seems to me that many new breeds were developed from birds that were "imperfect" by breed standards, but were developed into standards of their own!

All in all, I love chickens the good, the bad, and the ugly. I will Ooh and Aahhh over all of them whether they are a blue ribbon, or a DQ (like mine).

And since I'm on the subject of oohhing and ahhing...

mlove: I've been resisting Frizzles for a while now, but doggoneit, that little chick is adorable!! I may be a new convert! Your other chicks are equally as cute!

I totally agree with you Sunny CA! All my chickens are mutts & stuff. I have 2 handicapped chickens also. I LOVE to take in the special needs ones. It gives me great joy to see them happy and healthy and being a chicken. I am amazed at how alot of TLC and good quality food can over come with the handicaps.
I would LOVE to see a pic of your little green legged serama!

I love petting him because his feathers are so soft and curly. When he cleans himself his feathers get all ruffled and he is adorable.
