My girls have been on strike all spring with the crazy weather, storms, moving them around/changing locations and roosters and hen groupings and I had a "bunch" of non-fertile and partly developed chicks that died in the shell and finally, I'm getting good fertility and hatching one tonight from T-Roo's pen. I have 2 pullets in there that are old enough but not laying yet plus Bugsy and Truffles and Cici. This chick belongs to Truffles or Bugsy, no way to know which but they lay tan eggs and Cici is the only other laying hen and hers are paler, almost white eggs. It's pipped and partly zipped and it's so hard to wait but it looks like it is probably wheaten

Fingers are crossed for a strong, healthy chick and more to come....finally.

Just about out of the shell now and not wheaten like I thought, I must have been seeing some of the membrane making it look lighter. Looks like a black chick instead.....hoping for a cockerel.

well the neighbor i was trying to get some serama eggs to hatch for us both, seems to be having predator troubles still... all the reason he should let me hatch the little darlings! right? lol i told him he should leave my broody game hens with his, then the predator snake or coon or whatever it is, will learn that they a no longer on the menu hahahahahha!!!

As you can see, serama eggs come in as many colors as the serama themselves.
Must have to do with the diversity of their orgin.
Is anyone aware of any other breed having such a wide range of egg shell colors?
