Ok another Serama lover here.

In m y avatar, you can see my first experience with Seramas. Lisa (Dipsy_Doodle_Doo) sent me 2 Serama eggs as extras in a mixed box a year or so ago. Two eggs, both hatched, one guy and one gal ;-)

I was forced to rehome them early in the fall due to where we were living. I found out later, that they had been part of a mass flock destruction from the guy next door's dogs at their new home. I was devistated!

Nonnie, the hen, was even house broken!!

So I got some eggs from two BYCers. One, none hatched. But catwalk!!!! OMG her eggs were awesome! She sent me 12 eggs. Six developed up until the end, and 5 hatched!! My incubator is home-made using MissPrissy's guide.

Here's our babies;
Sweet Pea - hatched January 1, 2010 I helped her out 25 hours after pip. I was NOT gonna lose this baby!

Burr Nettle(we think it's a 'he') - hatched January 2, 2010

Roosevelt (we're 99% sure it's a 'he' and my 8yo dd named this guy) - hatched January 2, 2010

AmyQuilt,

Wow! They are very nice! Looks healthy and well taken cared for, but aren't they are little big for just about 2 weeks old? Mine are still the size of a small chicken egg at two weeks old, but thats just because mine are bred from Champion Show Quality breeders. Haha. Nevertheless, yours are very nice! Congrats! : )

They are actually quite small, especially number 4 and tiny. I zoomed in on the to get close ups, guess I should have put something in the photo to compare size.

Amy,

Glad to hear! : ) Would be nice if you can provide some comparison points for them. There are a lot of nice breeders here in BYC who has some really awsome stocks. But yeah, if you ever need to get new bloodlines further down the road, feel free to let me know. Good luck and enjoy them! : )

Chicks in cooler climes tend to feather out a little faster too...and the rest of us Texans know there is nothing between Amarillo and the north pole but a barbed wire fence and three strands of that are down! Cute chicks!

Amyquilt, those babies are PRECIOUS!!!! Riftnreef has siblings posted somewhere here. It's pics like these that are making me liquidate my Cochin flock and make room for more Seramas. My hatching skills are pathetic, and I only have three chicks of my own breeding. Sooo, I'm a little bit jealous, and a whole lot happy for you! Parent birds are going to start showing this year, beginning with the Cajun Classic (I like to start slow), so I will be sure to post here how they do!

Here are a couple of my babies....eggs donated by catwalk, hatched 7 weeks ago and growing out very well. My kids are both getting a pair from Jerry's Seramas soon, so we should end up with a nice small breeding group when it's done. It is too bad that we don't have the room to really get into it, but it will be fun to hatch out a small group from time to time.

First my little apple breasted beauty! All three hens look about the same, but she if the fullest up front, and she actaully cooperated for pictures...well, somewhat

Then my little roo...what are the odds of hatching out four birds, and getting 3 hens and a roo....I'm pretty sure God wants me to keep these little guys...
