No one cares about your birthdays after 21... thats how it is here anyway, lol
My own Mother forgot to call me this year until my Grandmother reminded her late in the day.
I was like, "MOM! How could you forget?! I WAS the most important day of your life, right?" lol
You should totally send some more pics of those pens! I love them----super nice looking!

Hey Jessi!
my father-in-law just called today to tell me that Typhon and his hen has started laying eggs yesterday! today already have 2 eggs!!!

woohoo! i am now thinking if I should let the hen sit on the eggs or have a different hen sit on them or if I should use the incubator..... hmmm.
but i'm so excited!!!

Congrats Gen! That hen is a great little layer.
If you let her go broody, you are going to get less eggs. If you have another broody bantam sized bird I would use that, and then I would use the incubator. I always try to use broodies when I can, I think they do a better job than I do, lol. Just quit collecting eggs from your smaller bantams and hopefully they will decide to sit, and you can switch them out later.
Pictures of chicks will be required on here though!

Yeah, sorry, lol.
Seramas should come with a warning by the surgeon general...they may cause addiction and an empty wallet! lol

Very cute hen...

What are the main diffrences of Serma and japanese hens? I know Seramas come from some of the same breeding stock as the japanese. I have a few black Seramas hens with white on their necks and they look quite a bit like japanese hens. I'm having a hard time on-line telling them apart at times..

Is it size? I know the japs have short legs or should be.. and I guess Seramas legs should be longer or their wings not drag the ground but it seems like a lot of Seramas, their wings do drag the ground..

Here is a japanese hen. while they say they want a U shape in the japaness and the Seramas they want a V a lot of Seramas don't have a V shaped back.. I would say more have a U shaped back then a V like the above black hen.

And here is a standred I found for them, Is this hen sitting down? or standing up in the drawing? if she is standing her legs are VERY short and her wings drag the ground.. her back seems pretty V shaped to me.
