Mine all have old horse feed buckets and they seem to love them! They are kind of deep so it gives them privacy. I have seen other takes buckets or old plant pots turn them over and cut an arch out for next boxes. It really it just a personal preference as hens will lay just about anywhere. (like their feed dish from time to time).

Hello All,

I'm new to Seramas. I got 10 eggs from a friend this summer and hatched 4 pullets. Then I bought 20 more eggs and hatched 7. Then I bought a trio. Here's some pics that I took today. Please tell me what you think. They were on the run and out of 300 pics, I only got a few so so ones.

My cock. What color would you call him. He stands up really nice but he was scared in this one. I was thinking of putting him in a cage so he can calm down so I can get some good pics. My trio is in with my chicks until I get some help moving a 6 holer rabbit type pen. Each pen is 2'x3'. How many Seramas will fit in 6 square feet? I give my large fowl 10 sf each. The chick beside him is a 5 week old Aseel.

This is my Mille Fleur hen.

And my White hen. I'm getting 1-2 eggs daily and it's been 100+ for weeks. I guess they like the heat.

Thanks:)

If anyone is in the area of Lapeer/Genesee/Northern Oakland Counties in Michigan, my hens are still laying like crazy and I am dont hatching for the year. We want to see what our combination's bring before breeding them more the eggs are free for pick up or I could meet you.

Happy Sunday everyone!!
Check out the Serama website for great pics of color, size, temperment, etc. Lots of info regarding getting them accepted into the ABA early next year as well. The website is: www.scnaonline.org. You have to register and they will send you confirmation, but there are tons of pics as well as the story of how the Serama got to the US.
Have fun with your feather kids.
