I have one pair of Serams, both B class. I couldn't get the pics of them to upload, so I can't show them off. I love my little serams. Tjhey are so friendly and love me back.

This is Zip. He is a Serama/ Cochin cross that was accidental. I may continue this line just for fun. He is the most adorable little chicken.

He has the temperment of the seramas and the small size, but the fluff and feathered feet of the cochins.

He came about when my Cochin roo busted out and bred my Serama hen, Midge.

Anyone have any Silkied or Frizzled hatching eggs available? I've been looking for quite a while.

15 babies out as of this morning! They are so tiny

I got these eggs from mbrobbins, $27 including shipping for 24+ eggs (she sent 37). After clears and quitters I had 21 eggs go to the hatcher, and so far I have 15 babies from these 21 eggs

I can see another egg pipped, the rest are in a position that I can't really see them

So 24-hours in the incubator or up to 3 days? I'm thinking I'll probably take any hatchlings out later today after I get back from my son's birthday party, so they should be fine. I think the first one to hatch hatched yesterday morning.

One thing I'm wondering (aside from the time they should be left in the incubator) is the brooder temperature? mbrobbins told me that when she hatches size A chicks she usually loses them within the first few days. I wonder if this is because they are too cold? I hatch a lot of coturnix quail, and one thing I've learned with them is that they like it to be warmer than 'normal' the first week, closer to 100 degrees than 95 or so. This keeps everyone happy and keeps them from piling on each other trying to keep warm, which is one of the biggest reasons why people lose them so early.

Should the tiny seramas have higher brooder heat the first few days-week? Some of these eggs were about the same size as my coturnix's eggs, I think I've gotten coturnix eggs that were bigger than a lot of these

So I think it might do the little fellas good to be warmer...thoughts?

So far I treat my serama the same as the coturnix, and so far have lost no serama chicks. I take them outwhen dry, no days stuck in the bator. I've lost several young quail to various reasons, but I think that some of that was bad luck....

A friend of mine sent me a pic of these serama that he may be buying... wanted to know my opinion.. A few look like they have good posture but I'm thinking the combs are too much?? any opinions/?

I take chicks away from my broody hen when they hatch and I observe closely to make sure that they're comfortable in a mini brooder. If a chick hatches the next day, I add it to the group and the older chicks seem to almost nurse the new baby and stimulate it into becoming a group member. By day 3, they're ready for outdoor cages during hot afternoons.

Occasionally during the first few days, some chicks have to have their bottom dunked in water and cleaned because they became pasted.

I've found that with the tiny serama chicks they stick to the warmer portion of my brooder. I use a homemade brooder of mine I made from a 10 gallon fishtank. I place a wire screen over one end of the tank and place the lamp on top of it. It stays at about 100 degrees right under the light and gets cooler the farther away from it they go. I've found that they preffer the warmest spot for the first few days and then move out away from the light to the cooler section as they grow. They know what temp. is comfortable to them and I've found that with this method I loose less chicks.

I've never had anything hatch from my pair that was smaller than a B class, but I have hatched the A class chicks before for a friend.

I have 7 serama eggs due to hatch today or early tommorrow. I'm so excited!!!

I don't have a good enough candler, so it's just wait and see.
