Holy cow! I am so sorry. Anyway you might be able to take them back later? I could babysit a while. If not, I would be interested in buying the last 2 hens

OMG what a bummer!! Maybe some of your friends could keep them until you have a place to keep them. If you were in TX I'd keep them for you until your settled again.

Those are some very nice birds!!

I am in San Diego CA, I have two birds i did not post on there a SDW hen lays good eggs and a black pullet with little white spots like a reverse dalmation!! RJ is going to my mom as a pet, and the rest of them are available. I am not selling my breeders i got from Grady but the rest is going!! I am also not selling the hen that lays itty bitty eggs, if you are looking for fertile egg laying hens she is terrible the rest have all been successfull at hatching chicks!!

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful little boy! How old is he now? I've heard a lot of wonderful things about Pearly Sue. Let me know how his feathers turn out - he looks solid white but sometimes they're tricky! Very cute! And frizzled too! I'm sorry about your eggs.

I've been way too afraid to try to order hatching eggs 'cause I heard the hatchability isn't great and the post office isn't nice. Good luck!

I have had decent hatches from mailed eggs. I get about 65-75%...not horrid, but not what I would do if the eggs had been from the farm locally. I would not be scared of sent eggs though, just be aware you will lose more. I would also say that if you are going to buy...I would buy from people on BYC and not Ebay, simply because people here you will have a bit more of a relationship with and if anything happens, hopefully that will make things easier.

Just my opinion.

What about the people who shake the eggs up before they ship? I can't tell you how I felt when I read about that - very sad! I guess I wouldn't worry about it if the eggs came from someone with a good reputation, but still! I would never have thought of doing that to anyone. Horrible.

I might try hatching eggs someday. That's the other thing, it seems that no one wants to sell serama hatching eggs for some reason, especially around here! Unless the seramas are C, D, or pet quality (I've seen lots of seramas that look suspiciously similar to OEGB...? ) You've had success with serama hatching eggs, though? Thanks for the feedback!

Honestly the only shipped eggs I have hatched are not Seramas, but I do have some of PamperedPoultry that are currently cooking!

I have always gotten my eggs from a friend who has extremely nice Seramas and lives nearby so I did not have to get shipped, but with pampered I will get some frizzled hopefully! It is also where my older birds are from. They have hatched great, but we will have to see how Pampereds turn out in another few weeks. I have never heard of anyone shaking eggs...I find it hard to believe, that would get around pretty quick if none of the eggs hatched time and time again! Where are you located? You may want to consider that so long as the Seramas are nice and from good lines, those c, and d birds can throw any type of baby. You could very likely get a SQ Serama from them. I actually tend to like to breed the Seramas that are a little larger, I think the eggs do better and I still get birds that are SQ, not all of them, but so long as the parents are nice, the babies should turn out nice. I use my Seramas for pets mainly, and for my sons 4-H birds, but every one of mine are currently SQ, we will see on the babies. I will admit, I have seen a lot of people trying to pass of birds that look like OEGB as Seramas, but just dont buy from those people. I actually drove an hour away to look at the parents of some eggs I wanted to get, they were def. not Seramas! So I can understand your fear, but if a person has a good rep, and you can see the pictures of the Seramas then you should be okay! It is always a bit of a gamble! Either way, whatever you do... best of luck!

Hehe, mine are pets too! So when I got my birds I had to just love them. My thing is that my roo had been used to having a flock of hens and now he's been singled out to go home with me in a pair. My hen likes him but he's too busy for her, if you know what I mean. I don't want to compromise the integrity of the breed, but at the same time I owe a good pullet to the person I got them from so I've been thinking about trying to improve on color by getting him another henny to love up (and help the person who got me started at the same time). I just love these little seramas. They spend more time hanging out with me while I'm doing homework than they spend outside scratching around in the gardens. They're like a couple of puppy dogs. So sweet! I don't want to be a breeder, I just want to keep them for pleasure 'cause they're my buddies. However, my husband is building a pretty large coop...

He puts the seramas on his shoulders and takes them on walks. He melts for tiny birds. I know he wants a couple more too. They're just so friendly!
