male quail is pecking the female repeatedly

the female quail is hatching well. no problems. except after a few hours, around 2/3, I'm not sure if she's having trouble drinking or she's throwing up in some way. I'd pick her up and she would have wet bubbles of some sort. any clue what is going on??

Sometimes when they're scared or they strain or have pressure on their crop area they will regurgitate liquid. I pet my quail in their cage and do most of my interactions in there, even cuddling xD

lol, I didn't know that She had her 4th egg today. she's not doing that a lot anymore. but the male is still being a Meanie-.-

Sounds like he doesn't have enough girls to divide his attention, so the one hen is getting the brunt of it - I would get more hens :)
I probably will soon, but my boyfriend doesn't want anymore. he says the two are already loud and messy enough. we might just wait until they hatch and then see what happens from there. but thanks for the idea! I'll convince him:)

I'm unsure of my button quails gender but we get one egg a day so we know we have a female. one of the quails pecks the one i think is female. i only have two quails and i dont think i have a big enough cage for three so im unsure of what to do.

It sounds like you need a bigger cage...

Or need to separate them.

Quail can get vicious fast.

This is kind of an old thread, I’m not sure how many people will see it. I’m not so familiar with buttons, but are they harming each other? Could it be a male trying to figure out how to mount the hen? If it’s not doing harm and he’s just trying to mount her, they usually get more coordinated as they age, but start out grabbing feathers anywhere on the head and pulling, sometimes in young males I’m pretty sure they don’t even understand what it is they’re supposed to be doing, but know it involves grabbing head and neck feathers. you can try to see if you separate them for a day they might get along better when you put them back together.
