Male Turkey with gapeworms? Need help with treatment.

Okay. We will begin treatment Thursday, I just don’t know how to figure out his exact weight
You got a bathroom scale? If so, weigh yourself, they weigh yourself holding him. The difference is his weight. If you don't have a scale, call some cat/dog vets and see if you can use their scale, or go to a CRV recycling center and weigh him on their scale.

Okay I’ll give it a go.. thanks so much. I’ll let you know tomorrow it’s night here now so they are asleep. I wonder what services that UC clinic offers for poultry? I’m tryna help this guy plus Aflac still on top of this you remember that boy I’m sure :hmm I’m hoping this will be what my turkey needs to start feeling better again he deserves to be himself again

We ended up finding the safeguard for goats at the feed store down the road from my house and we got a scale so I am going to weigh him and then I’ll report back :) gonna start treatment today

Is gape worm common in Cali?
How do you determine if they actually have it,
can you see the worms in the mouth and/or at top of trachea and esophagus ??
I’m not too sure. But we will see if it is after these five days. It’s hard to see when we try to look but he has every symptom and it’s been two months we’ve tried to treat for respiratory

It's not common on my property, but I'm 4 hours northwest of the OP, so who knows?

If they have them at the top of the trachea you might be able to see them, and some people suggest swabbing the trachea to check for them, but that is not something I would do, nor would I suggest anyone try.

One reference said that it was possible to see them in young birds by shining a bright light on the trachea.

Other people and references say to do fecals, but fecals are not full proof.

If he were mine I would treat for five days and hope that did the trick.
