Male Turkey with gapeworms? Need help with treatment.

It's not common on my property, but I'm 4 hours northwest of the OP, so who knows?

If they have them at the top of the trachea you might be able to see them, and some people suggest swabbing the trachea to chck for them, but that is not something I would do, nor would I suggest anyone try.

One reference said that it was possible to see them in young birds by shining a bright light on the trachea.

Other people and references say to do fecals, but fecal are not full proof.

If he were mine I would treat for five days and hope that did the trick.
I will treat for sure at 3.4 mL a day for 5 days. Starting today, and if it indeed was gapeworm or something like that he would be fine after the five days?

The two that I suspected had gapes were fine after 3-5 days.

What antibiotic did you try when you thought it might be a bacterial infection?

Find out what drugs you gave then let me know how much you gave, how you gave them, and how long you gave them. This matters a lot.

It would also be helpful if you could post some pictures and a video of him.

Whenever I go out to treat him with the safeguard here pretty soon I will take a video or two of him and a couple pics for sure. The video will be most important so you can hear him.
Our feed store had us try something called Corid. We put it in the water that he drank and he had that to drink for about a week. I believe that is it so far

Thanks. So I guess it diagnosis by reaction to meds.
Do gape worms live in trachea and lungs...or esophagus and crop.
Sorry for all the Q's (and hijacking your thread @danielley101215 ) just really curious about these nasties.....someone mentioned the other day about qtip swab coming up red for diagnosis.
