Mallard X Indian Runners???

Ive seen mallard / runner duck crosses... they looked like runner ducks with mallard collors... very nice looking...

So you live in michigan too, my runners are also from townline but out of my six only three look as good as yours color wise lol, and yea he is for sure a rouen then.

That grey drake does not qualify as either a Rouen or Mallard according to the APA Standard for the breeds.

Not all ducks are show ducks. That is what is commonly referred to as a hatchery quality Rouen. I raised one myself. I got it from Privett.

I also have a hatchery quality runner that doesn't have the upright stance but lays eggs like a champ. I also have 2 hatchery quality Welsh Harlequins...one with obvious mallard striping (fault) and one with orange feet and olive legs (fault) and yellow bill with black spots (fault). Because I can't show them doesn't mean they aren't an Indian Runner hen and two Welsh Harlequin hens.

My only "show quality" ducks came from Holderreads. THAT is where you get your ducks if you want quality and breed standard.​

Hey now, no reason to get saucy. We arent all APA approved breeders here and I would rather have my mutt hen run around the yard with a clump of dirt on her bill than go and watch an APA approved bird be crammed in a small cage fro a few days.

Class B hatcheries are just fine here and if Im a sucker for ordering my birds from them then hand me a lollipop so i can get to the tootsie roll center.

Since my primary concern is egg laying, I do not see the need to pay extra for show quality birds. I am not a sucker, I am just not a freaking snob.​

Neil- As you should fully well know, you cannot compare a picture to a drawing. The presumption apparently is that you think the drawing you linked on the McMurray site is representative of what their birds look like in reality. I assure you, it isn't (but, I imagine you already know this).

I have raised ducks for 20+ years and I have *never* seen a hatchery/production Rouen with the type represented by the picture in your link. Seriously, only in top exhibition birds do you get that type (in the US). Rouens in the US simply do not have that type. Only a very select number of breeders have birds that are that typey. The vast majority anymore simply look like overgrown Mallards. That is production/hatchery quality. To assert otherwise really is borderline ludicrous.
