Now, Bruce... I know that you know that there's not likely any one on BYC, or any other place where we might converse who doesn't do those types of things to their body where a heating pad would be useful.Yeah but I was a noob and following the gospel of "they say" on the temps for week 1 through 4! Now that I have seen Blooie's massive success with MHP and how the chicks don't even hang in the heated cave all the time, it is THE way to go. Were I to do it all over again, I would still have my first ever chicks in the house because I would be a nervous wreck with them in the barn. But, being as I am now a "seasoned chicken farmer"I don't need to do the "every half hour" checks to make sure they are OK.![]()
You bet! And if you don't need it for the chicks, I'm sure you do things to your body that would benefit from a nice new heating pad![]()
MesMama: Yes, a heating pad would be a wonderful thing to have, even if you have a seasoned broody. You never know when your broody may go AWOL for any number of reasons. Also, if you don't have an incubator, a HP would be great to have for the occasion when Broody leaves the nest but there are a few viable eggs left. In a pinch, I bet you could hatch those last few eggs with the HP.
