Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

Thanks to everyone who have been supplying the updates on our Fearless Leader. I've been worried sick. Well, part of the "sick" was the flu, but still plenty worried.

Be a good girl for the nurses, Blooie, and hurry back to you post as soon as you can!

Prayers for Blooie.

I got lambasted with a migraine the likes of which I've never had yesterday.  Still with me this morning, I am a bit loopy/weak/vision still off a bit.  Plan to lay low all weekend, and let hubby baby me.

I used to get migraines...not as bad as yours but bad enough. I was told that regular Gatorade helps...not the G2 or any of them other ones, maybe worth a try. I haven't had one in a while so never tried it....I hope you feel better soon.

@Blooie - as I read through this post I was struck by your kindness, positivity and faith. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

@lazy gardener - I am so sorry for anyone who suffers with migraines. I have never had a migraine, but my ten year old daughter has had them since she was two. At first we thought it was hypoglycemia since her trigger is fasting (they always occur on a morning after she has had a light/early dinner), we make sure she eats a spoon of peanut butter before bed every night which manages it pretty well. This past October she got a stomach bug, which brought on a migraine, and half her mouth stopped moving when she talked. The most scared I have been in my life was when the Instacare doctor told me I could drive her to the ER or he could call an ambulance. The ER doc explained to me about migraines that mimic strokes, which I had never heard of before.

lazy gardener. Have you ever kept a journal of everything you eat and when? Perhaps it will provide a clue of whats causing them.
I can't agree with this more. I have pretty bad migraines - mostly with neurologic symptoms (plus or minus pain). Really disruptive.

When I went to a headache specialist when I was younger, I went on a specific "headache diet" that was pretty restrictive with regard to items that may trigger headaches. Then you add things back slowly, one by one, to discover what foods may trigger them. For instance, red wine and chocolate weren't a problem for me - but Brie cheese would trigger one VERY quickly. (now too much chocolate triggers them as well - sucks getting old.) Also, get as much sleep as you can. I was taught to think of a glass that would get filled with lack of sleep, stress, poor eating habits, etc., When that glass overflows, you get a headache. Thus when you try to avoid stress and get more sleep (not always possible), it takes more of the other stuff to give you a headache.

Everyone's different, but the only thing that ever work for me, prevention-wise, was low doses of antihypertensive medications (calcium channel blockers when I was younger, beta blockers now). It's quite remarkable - I'm taking it for something else (benign arrhythmia), and my migraines just disappeared... (Except that one I had recently... when I had too many chocolate chips.

How could anybody know how much chocolate or chips they can consume safely.? We are the guinea pigs. What happened to scientific studies that are supposed to rule every breath we take?:he

This ridiculous thing called individual variation. Data from scientific studies would be so much more precise and neat if we were all just clones of each other!
