Today I'm dealing with escaping kittens :he they're in the corner with the cat tower... so i thought "great! They'll climb and jump and not be bored and stay there" wrong! They are everywhere!! And if i put them outside no one around here will want them:barnie
 
Oops... I didn't answer your question @WhoDatChick ! and umm yeah I'm up to 30 now. and I might add more since it looks like I got Buff Brahmas....or Cochins... depending on combs and i'm not good with knowing which is which there.

So i couldn't sleep last night... so I took a couple pics of 3 of my new chicks... after looking online and on here it looks like I got some buff brahmas or cochins! COOL!

Chick one is the darkest

Chick 3 is almost all silver with only a tiny bit of red on it's face... it kepted pecking my nails...

All of them in the bin... I'm thinking of duct taping the screen over the top just enough so that i can still slide the one side to refresh water and food. caught the cats eyeing them again. :barnie

I had to cull two of my new chicks tonight... it was hard enough and then it didn't go well cuz I'm a nub... :hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit

I feel awful but one was dying already and the other had turned cannibal.. thankfully no more injuries or anything with the others. I'm in tears.. i never thought a chick would do that! I looked it up and sure enough they do do this. :th:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit

Oh my gosh!!! I’m so sorry! I can’t imagine... if you don’t mind me asking.. how was it being a cannibal... I mean, I know but what was it doing? Trying to eat the others??

It was digging at the one chicks eyes, ripped part of the beak off... when i grabbed it it started going at my hand and anyone else who got near it.
I mean I've seen them peck at each other but never like this. I'm starting to wonder if it had a head injury from being shipped to the store.

Everyone else in the inside brooder is calm and happily sleeping now.. i just feel awful...

Awe, I’m so sorry :rolleyes:.... I don’t know what I’d do..but probably make hubs do the dirty work.. he is a duck hunter and at times has to ring a neck if the duck wasn’t killed by the shot..
I hope all is happy and healthy and grow up without anymore issues... and all of your integrating goes smoothly :hugs

Actually my son volunteered to do it but I didn't want him to at this age.
I was distancing my emotions at the start but afterwards it knocked me over... stupid emotions!
