Man, I hate shipped eggs... and a question.

Oh no, you misunderstood. I am not blaming the shippers of Hatching Eggs at all. NO NO NO!

I love hatching eggs, and I love ordering them. But I have watched our PO throw packages without even reading the big RED LETTERS THAT SAY: HATCHING LIVE EGGS. It just seems that a lot, not all, the people working at the post office are only concerned with lunch, breakfast and hardees. Everytime I open my PO Box I see them in there with a hardee's wrapper in their hand and grabbing one letter or box and tossing it where it should go.

OMG, where is this - city or country?

I'm not slamming nor complaining about the seller. I know the risks when I order shipped eggs. Although they certainly could have been packaged securely within the box. The box itself was in great shape, the eggs could just move a little too much within the box.

I'm really more concerned about whether to clean the remaining eggs.

And hope to goodness I don't get my usual 50% hatch rate on shipped eggs

It's almost not worth raising a flock of 3

I think it only matters how it's labeled, if the wrong postal workers don't get their hands on it lol. As in any other business, it's all about people. There are a lot of good, caring, and conscientious postal workers, and a few that don't care.

I feel for you.

Nothing as disappointing as not getting good eggs to set when you are all excited about it...even if its no one's fault. I just posted my own disappointment and will be commiserating with you.

I was just reading about that; I'm particularly nervous because I'm getting two dozen ebay BCM's in the mail the first of the week! What kind of previous ratings does your seller have?

Well if anyone is looking for shipped light Brahma eggs, you can do no wrong with aceschix when it comes to packaging. She wrapped each egg individually in bubble wrap, put them in a box with shredded paper, then put that box inside another box with styrofoam between the two boxes. I think the PO could have played soccer with that box and the eggs wouldn't have been broken.

X2. I ordered Marans eggs from her, and even after the post office sent them to the wrong town not once, but twice, every egg was intact! She packed them exceptionally well and sent extras to boot. I'll definitely deal with her again in the future. Now if the PO just didn't scramble the eggs in transit, I'll have some cute little Marans fuzzy butts around the 9th.
