Man I hate the egg laying song!

I agree. I wish chickens would shut their yappers when doing their business. Sometimes everyone starts yapping together, even the guys. Shaddup! I live far enough away from people so it's not a problem, but I would be embarrassed and highly nervous if I had nearby neighbors.

When I first heard "the song" my first thought was.... Egg Song??? Eh...me thinks it's more of a "Get this dang thing out of me!!!" scream!!! You know...like human child birth without an epidural!

But humans want to make everything butterflies and rainbows...so they give it a cutesy little name like "Egg Song". :D

I call it the 'labor song'

Guess, that paints me as a cave woman! Home birth with #1, went to the hospital for #2 only b/c she was a couple weeks early. In at 6:30 AM, home by 12:30, in time for lunch! No meds needed.

:D

You're lucky! While I was "numb" watching 'Driving Miss Daisy' and munching on ice chips, the lady down the hall was screaming bloody murder! Apparently she was on her 5th hour of hootin' and hollarin' before I got there. Nope. Nada. Not for me! lol

Whenever I hear it I think my chicken are in distress so I run out and disturb them. I am sure I will settle down with time, but it doesn't sound like a happy moment.
I kind of like the egg call. It gives me a chuckle to hear how worked up the flock can get over one egg, especially when the roosters join in. If things get too out of hand I will go out to them and that usually calms them down.

Heh, I'll never forget a friend who gave birth in my house screaming at her husband after he started telling her to push. Poor guy didn't know what hit him. :lau
