Lock up your hen house I would not put it past him to send his son on over with friends after your roo. If the teens dad is like this than chances are the teen is going to want to do something stupid.

Ahh, but it isn't. Feeling threatened is a very personal thing. If she feels threatened, she feels threatened. Nobody is questioning that at all. We've already told her several things that she needs to do -- and has done -- to protect herself from future action.
HOWEVER -- the fact that she feels threatened does not mean that the other guy is actually Evil, or Crazy, or Psycho, or any of that other garbage. That's what some of us should try to keep in mind here.

I guess I just give her the benefit of the doubt that she is intelligent enough to sort out the outrageous, nonsensical, darkly humourous (take your pick) posts.
wow, we are all passionate about our birds and home....i have been lucky to have neighbors who don't mind my birds. this person must have had some sort of issue to approach a neighbor in this manner. he may be all bark and no bite, IF he returns apologize for the noise(even though you have a right to have the bird) but explain to him how uncomfortable you are in the manner he approaches you about it. tell him you are trying to compromise, then ask him to leave nicely. then go inside, don't argue. if he does not leave then call the police. he may not know he acted uncivilized, but this will keep things from escalating, and giving you grounds for a trespass notice. good luck.
If you see him approach your property again (after you have posted "no trespassing" signs and done all the things you plan to do such as locks and what-not):
Get out your phone and have a male friend on the other end ready to play his part.
Put the phone to your ear and walk towards the guy.
As you approach, speak into the phone "Yes Officer, he's standing here now.... is your recorder on? Yes, yes, no not yet. Ok, hold on a minute".
Then look at the guy (while still holding the phone to your ear) and say "What can I do for you Sir?"
Do this each time you see him approach your house.
I've read this whole thread and have mixed feelings. I have a child with special needs including medical.Sometimes we have rough nights and being awakened by a neighbors rooster at 5am would tick me off.
On the other hand I just ordered my first chicks including 3 males [buyers remorse on those already] .My neighbors just built their dream McMansion next door with the Palm Tree lined driveway and everything .I worry they will give me a hard time if my roos bother them .We are on 8 acres, but it's still a neighborhood.
Do I need a rooster for good egg production?
I really hate confrontation.
a rooster is for fertilizing eggs and flock protction, if he is a good roo. Hens will keep laying the same if there is a roo or not. Have you talked to your neighbors yet?
