Managing chickens.smells,flies etc help

I've been watching this thread since it started.

Personally, I think you are an incredibly good neighbor as you are doing everything in your power to overcome any fly / odor control issues with your chickens.

Being the adult child of a severe (but miraculously now controlled) alcoholic mother, I can say that you really must let all the rants that come from this woman roll off your back. She likely doesn't even remember what she's said or done and you have no more control over her behavior than her poor son. I've been through it all and I speak from experience.

It is very distressing to have to deal with this behavior and easier said than done to just let it go. Just keep being the responsible, courteous neighbor you are and try your best to just ignore her. Calm and rational will win out over uncontrolled ranting every time.

My mother is a recovering drug user and both have similar out bursts and it sucked growing up with her well that when she was around and I normally avoided her. That is most likely why subconsciously I don't wish to live near her and why I freeze every winter in the UK. Still tho I feel she needs help even her son agrees so I'm giving him as much support as I can for him and his family.

The out burst has shaken me and left me stressed but at least I know why she flipped but still it does leave me on edge of another out burst.. I did tell him I will ignore her but if it moves on to being psychically threatening I will have to report it. He said he understood and he was ok with that and fully understood. But we are both worried about her out bursts to big rig (lorry) drivers and just other people that don't know her in general.

my other neighbors who the chicken broke into their yard they said they over heard and asked what happen they said she was bang out of order they had no issue with the chickens or the flies said it's been a bad year for them anyway and they have never seen her windows open.either. they also don't mind the rooster as normally he only crows a few times then shuts up unless the dog is there or he sees a cat says he is really good with all the younger chicks.

Document everything. Every visit. Every outburst. Every conversation with both her and her son. If you need to go to the authorities, you'll need the written back-up. This thread can help you go back and recreate your timeline.
You may need to start calling the police when she acts out, if only to get her behavior officially "on the books." You're not doing it so you can get even with her. There is no "getting even" with an addict, as they don't rationally comprehend what's going on. What you are doing is creating a base to get that poor woman (and I use the term loosely) the help she needs.
And if that doesn't work, the next time you see her in her yard, give her some eggs. I recommend an overhand throw for better aim and higher impact!

So are roosters legal where you live? If not this lady could get the health department involved.
If roosters were illegal where I live I would have lost my boy Thor a long time ago. again I live in a rural (country side) area there are cow, sheep, goat and other most likely other chicken owners out this way and I'll be truthful I have never heard of a rooster to be illegal other then in the cites and highly built up areas which I'm not in one of them thankfully.

I have a document going about the first out burst from her the day and roughly the time they happened. I agree about calling the on the cops for future out bursts and getting the issue with her on their books. If I was going to get even I would have tipped cow and horse poo under a open window on a moonless night but I was taught better...... Also if I lobbed a egg at her I would be arrested for assault and I don't really want to see what the inside of a British prison looks like.

You definitely have an uncomfortable situation going on. Your neighbor doesn’t sound like she is very stable at the moment.

Alcoholism is not fun. My grandfather was an alcoholic so I know how it goes sometimes. I remember once he almost ran his truck through the front of our house while drunk.

Being an alcoholic in no way excuses her behavior however. If she continues to threaten and be abusive towards you then you should call the authorities. Living like you have been is miserable and I can tell by your posts that it is taking a toll on you mentally and physically.

I am glad her son acknowledges her issues because that may be one thing that can work in your favor if things need to proceed with the authorities. It becomes less of a her side of the story vs your side of the story if her own son admits that she has issues and has been acting out.

Hope things get resolved for you sooner rather than later. :)

ya it's not fun and truthfully I'm still stressed out not even meditation, praying, heck even burning sage is not helping. Plus side I got my fly traps yesterday and got one put up and it's already caught 4 flies ad 3 wasps. And my poor idiot choco lab went to the vet yesterday for his yearly shots, well he did not get his shots he gave himself hot spot in 2 places so now anti-bionics and steroids before he can get his shots...And he is trying to mooch some brioche roll from my daughter as I type what a fat boy. Vet tried to tell me he is too fat yet you can see and feel where his ribs are he is 46-48 kgs (101lbs to 105-106lbs) think I might it a minture horse cart and tie him to it lol.

Maybe you and piggy-puppy can start walking. It's a great stress reducer!
