Many people getting lay-offs yet?

I am a high school student this past summer I had a summer job, I was a camp councilor.

I only have three classes in school

but school doesn't start till 9:30

so I don't get out till 1

. I have been searching and searching for a job,

but no body want a High school student

even tho I am 18.

This has been a very bad day around my house. I work for the bank in the news today. I think I should have a job for at least the next two years. In the meantime we are working towards getting ourselves self-suffient. I had my husband take some of the deer meat in the freezer and I am practicing canning it. This year I will can the meat instead of freezing it. I have no idea what the future might bring but I am for the first time in my life worried about my job and my family. This is being said by a woman who has moved several times with children and no job and we have always landed on our feet this time am

I think lots of us are afraid, I have been for a few weeks.
DH will be going back to work next week (hopefully) and he told me "your job is here with the chickens and the house" ....yadda yadda yadda ok I like it but if he isnt back to work in a week my college educated butt might have to go flip burgers. Sucks..I have been looking for some little part time job for ever now, and cuz of something STUPID I did over 5 yrs ago I cant even get a job washing cars!
Thank goodness I make money on ebay.

It's been a wild ride for us in the financial services industry. Just a a little over a year ago our company merged with another large one, and that sent majority of the jobs to a different state altogether. Now with the confirmed news of our bank side getting bought by one of the really big guys it's really done a number on everyone - especially those employees that relocated.

Tomorrow is my last day with the company and I'm thanking my lucky stars that I have a plan... first day on the new job starts Thursday. Whew!

I'm very worried too. Unfortunately when times get tough, DH (law enforcement) gets busy.

He'll always have work, but I'm in the food industry, and fine dining is nearly dead. Flipping burgers sounds good right about now!

I drink and go talk to the chickens......
think i will do that now since we are all doomed.

at least we have food, the chickens have food, the landlord cant speak english very well so he cant tell us lo move out, just paid the cable and internet, filled all but one perscription today before insurance runs out, and the cars have gas so we will live a few more weeks.

jobs......hmmmmm I dont wanna be the one to keep a cop on the job, let someone else do that

Well, the Dow didn't go down as far as I had expected.

But I expect to see another drop of 500 tomorrow.

Watch for many smaller banks to go under in the next few weeks.

Oil should go down, but gas prices won't...in fact, they'll go up.

Dollar will be worth much less next week than it is now.

I should have purchased a bunch of Euros a couple of weeks ago when I had the chance.

Soon the economy will be so bad, some folks will actually learn how to pray. Fancy that.
