Marans, Amaraucanas, Barnevelders, RIRs, and Welsummers...Opinions?

We love our Araucanas! They look like beautifully colored hawks, and the roosters are just splendid! They are all good natured and seem to do a pretty job laying. The olive-green and aqua-blue eggs are just beautiful, too

Have fun picking breeds! I'm getting excited to try some silver-laced wyandottes and black australorps...

Another question about Marans: I know that cuckoo is the most popular, and that black copper is becoming more popular. Why are Black Copper Marans eggs so expensive? Is it just that there's a lack of good breeders with good stock, more so than in cuckoo marans?

At this point in time there just aren't that many of them....supply and demand explains the prices.

My babies decided to come visit me. I let them out to free range and these girls decided to not go to bed. I think it was the rain. I snapped this before I put them to bed.
