Yes, more times than not, you'll lose egg color. The very best way to keep good, dark egg color is to stick with your line, but you might consider purchasing eggs from another breeder that has your line. I don't know where you got your Jeane line, but Fitz Farms runs a pure flock of Jeane and has very good egg color. geebsie also has some nice Fitz girls, but I dunno if you can pry any eggies out of her!

That sounds about right. Mine molted for two months right about that age - - - I didn't see too many missing feathers - - BUT they quit laying for a couple of months. Since then, they have been laying like crazy.
