Is this true even if you get a rooster from a different line that comes from a very dark egg? It's really not an issue for me...yet... but I am curious about it. I don't know if it is better to keep my line pure wade Jeane or if that really matters. So far they are.

Yes, more times than not, you'll lose egg color. The very best way to keep good, dark egg color is to stick with your line, but you might consider purchasing eggs from another breeder that has your line. I don't know where you got your Jeane line, but Fitz Farms runs a pure flock of Jeane and has very good egg color. geebsie also has some nice Fitz girls, but I dunno if you can pry any eggies out of her!

Nope won't happen... but thanks Wynette...

Our Cuckoo Marans has stopped laying like that, we did end up treating her for mights-she is also missing feathers and we are thinking that she is molting and around 10 months old.

That sounds about right. Mine molted for two months right about that age - - - I didn't see too many missing feathers - - BUT they quit laying for a couple of months. Since then, they have been laying like crazy.

Hi guys, I have a few hens now, and I need to get a new roo line going. I was wondering if there was any of you on here that live close to Tennessee..... ???? PLEASE.... LOL well I am so glad to see that there are tons of individuals interested in BCM plus other patterns too... I can just imagine how awsome these birds' future is going to be!!!!!!
