...in all honesty tho..Ive really appreciated this thread a lot. For the last year I've been going it on my own with the Marans and while I could glean a bit of info here and there, its never the same as interacting with others dealing with the same issues. Before I ever posted here I read the whole thread...I was pretty hungry for information and and very thankful. I love the humor and the sense of community here too. I know I'm new, but I've been made to feel welcome and I really appreciate it!

I usually get more males in the early part of spring or even in winter than I do in the last spring or summer...I often wonder if it isn't natures great design to make more males for the food chain to help with the fattening in the spring for preditors... Just a thought.. about the great design in the food chain.

Well galivina.. feel free to pull up a pixel and drool on my keyboard any time... and welcome all you lurkers!!!!

I was always told when I was a kid that it was a strong possibility that there were more males because they are stronger and are able to handle differences in temps and etc better that pullets can during the development process.

Thought I'd post a shot of the eggs I got from Pink on Thursday. Took less than 48hrs from Washingto to Maine - talk about oppositends of the country
