Thanks all! I will tell my boy you all send your thanks! I'm sure glad he didn't relay any of the stories he told me yesterday, until he was home!! I'd have never slept!

I am changing it to make a statement . . . I just have to upload the picture. . . . I am a mega firm believer in not doing ANYTHING that I don't think is right . . . . I do think it will make me happy for a while

Split shifts are the WORSE. . . It is hard on the person working them and hard on their family ( or pets).

I don't think I could deal with my Dh ( dear husband) working them for very long. . . .

You will NEVER have a problem getting rid of extra girls. . . So, just hope most are girls!

For sure! Just hope she has better luck at that than you or me!

Feathered ones are the only "chicks" in my life right now.

and probably will be for some time. It seems that there is just no love to be had for a broken-down old logger...

I have no problem with extra boys! I live in the country, on this thing called a farm

, lot's of room for those boys. Plus marans are tasty birds. As long as I can keep them fenced in I plan on keeping extra boys out to 20 weeks and than sending them to feezer camp. It will give me more time to chose a few good breeder males.

My problem right now is too many girls and the eggs that come with them. I need to find more buyers, or donate them to my sons school for the breakfast program, (the eggs not the hens). The good news is I am turning some of my friends into chicken freaks. And making sure the start off with Marans!

I really do feel like that smiley! I got home my BCM chicks yesterday and they're strong, happy and healthy. It helped that I had first pick after the breeder. His BCs are from Bev/Jeane/Presley lines, which he had in separate enclosures. I can't wait to see how they develop! I'll post pictures in a bit. Having issues with my laptop and SD card.... Good thing the hub is mr computer extrodinare!

Hey all,
I have some 5 day old +/- BCM chicks that I hatched last week, and I noticed one of the little guys/gals has little bright white feathers that are in the tips of it's new wing feathers... Is this common? Does it tell me anything?
