DON'T worry about it! Body shape and color are way more important. . . .

It is a 1/2 pt deduction for each point under OR over the 5 stated in the standard. So, a point comb is a BIG whopping ONE point deduction.

To fix it in the future, find a nice hen with a 4 pt. comb. . . . HOWEVER, if you are like most of us, YOU WILL FIND BIGGER things to fix first.

I moved some birds around today...so now I have 3 groups, sorted by size and age. The "Bill's Girl" that I got from Pinkchick as a fuzzy-butt in January is about the same size as my RIR that is 1 year old...

I am just amazed that out of 20-some chicks I have gotten from her this winter-spring...I have not lost a single chick...

I wish I was done. . . .. I have three separate groups of chicks outside under the age of 6 months. . . . There is another group of 1 week olds in the house. ..
There is another group of eggs in lock down. Lastly, there is one more group of eggs in another incubator that will go into lockdown in about 10 days.

I still have a couple of more sets of eggs waiting for an ok to ship to me. . . .

I am so DONE with the hatching thing. . . .

I seem to like them mature and able to follow directions versus the high maintenance babies and the disobedient adolescents.

The oldest group of all these chickens is about 5 months old and is ready to start some obedience training. . .
