Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

That's right your pullet is missing, I'm sorry. I read that but sometimes it's hard to remember to respond to all the posts, because it is VERY easy to get side tracked on BYC.

Doesn't help that most of the time this thread moves at the same pace as the Indy 500.

Speaking of the Indy, DID YOU SEE IT!?? OMG! I bet that kid is still banging his head on the wall!

I watched the Indy, you know he's banging his head.

Wow those are good numbers. I hope you have a great hatch.

Speaking of missing pullets my SS showed back up wanting to get into the pen. I bet she went broody and has a nest in the woods. She is a nice color but hatchery stock so I don't want her raising mixed babies. She is the one I named 'Snow Falling on Cedars" due to her coloring. Debbie I hope yours shows up..tis the season to be nesting so maybe she will.
One of my marans x split lav/blk orp girls has a nest with a dozen eggs or so and wanting to sit on them. I was out watering in my flower pot ghetto yesterday and heard 'squawk', and looked down and saw I had watered a hen lol. She dug a hole in the middle of several large pots and laid her eggs there, goofy thing.

Hens and Roos: Ohhh blackberry and pomegranite sounds awesome. I used to be able to go down the alleys at our old house in AZ and just find gobs of pomegranate bushes growing wild with huge poms on them. I have a small 'Wonderful' pom now but hasn't produced much yet. I don't know if there is enough blackberries out there to make jam or not. The wild birds and other critters usually get most of them. Last year I cheated and used store bought strawberries lol.

Thanks for the well wishes on the hatch.

I have to purchase the poms but they are sooooo worth it.

It takes some time... when Madison started to crow, and then started attacking me, his eye color changed...He had that golden "I'm gonna' get your arse" look to his eye...he still has it. It's the mark of a Champion, right, Pinkchick?

Hey, I thought you said he stopped his bad behavior and has been a good boy? BTW..........THANK YOU for the goodie box of homegrown pork, Rick and I are having some of the bacon this morning for breakfast. YUMMY!

Ohhhh...and that Splash Copper rooster that I just picked up is MIA this morning.....I have no clue where or how, just know that he is no where to be found and not in the holding tank where quarantines are kept. Not in any of the coops, not running around down by the goatie barn, haven't seen him in pasture, don't see any remnants or feathers, holding tank is not damaged, but the latch is unlatched like something or someone opened it.

O.K....on the good side...this means you can come and get the other one!

If your latch was opened it was probably a raccoon.

With PNKCHK License plates! And hot pink flame details!

I already have the pink flames on my lawn tractor.....

and was just discussing the PNKCHK license plate with my DH for my birthday this year. He refuses to have PNKCHK 1 for my truck and PNKCHK 2 on his work van.
