What he means is I got my Wheatens from him to breed for my Blue & Splash Wheatens.
Randy you might want to save me one of your better roos for the swap! That brat is fighting everything now. Sad thing is he gets the crap beat out of him and still does it. The hens have taken to hiding when he is moody.

. I say the swap as I would have to have it tested before I can bring it home. (NPIP)
Hey you could have answered that for me. I would have no problem with that.

I have 2 other chicks, ones a definite Marans, and I think the other one is too, both gold laced (or penciled?) Her and a sibling I handpicked, so, hopefully they're pullets

Okay... I am curious.... what does blue wheaton look like... please post your blue wheaties for me... Wow.. did I miss a bunch of stuff..

Snowbird: I do have orbs... little round golf balls... They are a #5-6 right now.. (steady lay forever) and there is some mossie and I cannot guarantee no white feathers. I hadn't heard that about the round eggies and I don't see that personally in my pen... The egg shaped ones are very much darker than my orbs.

Not visually gifted here.. All I can imagine is a blue bird... ha ha... I hope someone has a pic they can upload... Thanks for trying.

I GOT MY FIRST CHOCOLATE EGGS!!!!!!!

these are from my little Wheaten girl. she's 7 months and just started laying... i was starting to think she was a mutt laying regular ole brown eggs. then, today, she laid 2! i'm so proud of her (and pretty amazed).

interested to see what everyone's opinion is of the egg color as i know pretty much nothing about color gradients. also, one of the eggs is pretty scratched from other hens getting in that nest box. is that common?

bibliophile birds:

If your egg color is truly being reflected in the pictures - - - then that is the same level of color I am getting from my eggs.
Mine might be slightly darker. I wish mine were a lot darker and will be working on that.

I think you are looking a color level 4 judging by the color charts I have seen . . .. .
The more experience marans owners should jump in here and say more . . . .

I bred for them. This is my first gen (f1) hatch of them. So keeping them. I know you can get them but would have taken the fun out of it.
Still have 2 Olive eggs to go,1 cm pip -1 to go,2 BBS/Wheaten to go. They are the eggs I put in last. So

that the rest will hatch. I think it was a good hatch even if the rest don't because they were all pullet eggs (first time Layers). Bev Davis had some. There are a few others too. Good luck finding some.
I'm using a mix flock of Wheatens and Blue and Splash I do have 1 blk hen for when they go in there own coops. I have 1 Wheaten roo and 1 Splash roo in with 4 Wheaten & 4 BBS. The chicks 2 are BLK and the rest are blue with bits of wheaten in wings, neck, legs. I will bred them back to Wheaten roo.
Randy any time you what any just let me know. I say this after I get them up and going Unless you what to dive in and help.
