You have all the chicken you need to make a batch of splashes....
Unless your Blue Copper hens are like my Black copper and only throws males....
Is that how you ended up with 4 splash MALES ? ? ?

I tell you what .. . . if I decide to get rid of this little one I will give you first dibs.

However, since it is the only one I hatched from Pink, I am kinda attached to her.
She looks like she is going to be super mellow too.

NOT normal, but it does happen.

I have a DELAWARE that lays double yolkers. On the days she does not lay a double yolker she lays two eggs.
Usually those two eggs are soft shelled and rubbery.
Occasionally, she actually drops two reg eggs on the same day . . .RARE, but she does do it every once in a while.

I only have 4 hens in that coop and I have occasionally gotten 5 eggs in one 24 hour period.

Broody hen on Marans eggs. She wouldn't let me get a picture of the eggs under her.

Both my Splash Marans pullets laid today! Yippee!!
tiny egg, and one next to it are from the Splash girls, the next one over is my BCM 6-month old hen. Tell me what you think of the hens, pretty please? I am trying to learn...

Hey Dawn, nice splash hens. Hungarian names for French hens?

Your BC hen has a nice long back. Is Zsazsa's head in a shadow or does she have a darker head/hackle?

Sorry I'm not on here as much... less time - in the baby zone still.

I'm not the most qualified person to judge your hens, but I think your splash pullets are VERY nice! Your BCM pullet could use a little more coppering in the hackles, but so could "just about" every other BCM female I've seen. Congrats on the new eggs.

Love the ladies! Like VC said, nice long back on the black copper. Is it just the picture, or does the Splash hen have a side sprig on her comb? Hard to tell without a close-up shot. Congrats on the new layers!!

I just put some more eggs into lockdown. Gees. I'm not having the best of luck hatching. Over half of my eggs ended up going to the hay field because they were clear or had quit early on.

THEN stupid me drops the flashlight on two of the BCM eggs while candleing. I'm not generally a clutz, but I think that would definitely put me in the clutz category today.

Fortunately one of the eggs I smashed was obviously clear. The other one broke the shell, but did not tear the membrane so I went ahead and put it in the hatching tray. I don't have high hopes that it will hatch, but I'm going to give it a chance. About half of the BCM eggs I had went into lockdown. The nice thing was I could hear peeping while I was candling and discovered one of my bantam partridge wyandottes had already pipped.

It seems they tend to hatch a day or two early.

I also had 12 guinea eggs in there that will go into lockdown in a week. HALF of them were clear, so now there are only 6 guinea eggs left in the incubator.

When those 6 guineas are done I am done hatching for the summer. I'm hoping to hatch some bantam black cochins this fall, if I ever find the right pullets to put with my old gentleman rooster.

Oh shoot! Well at least the one was clear, maybe the other one will hatch? Wish you hadn't posted this. I am going to candle the Silkie eggs today, and now I'll be worried about dropping the flashlight!

Hope I get some viables out of this hatch, they keep telling me shipped Silkie eggs don't do well...

Best of luck with those silkie eggs. Let us know how it goes.

Try not to hold the flashlight you are using over the rest of the eggs you need to candle. I learned my lesson.
