Looks to be a nice day here, hope the east coast pulls through without to much loss and damage. Have to clean a pen today-it's the baby pen. Watching the incuabtor humidity as we are at day 19 and sitting around 55%.

hoping to get some to hatch, this is my test hatch from the birds I posted yesterday.

Omlets for breakfast! Careful with the hornets, we just killed a wasp nest that was found between our foundation wall and 1st floor joist inside our house. We could see the nest from our storage room in the lower level. The nest is dead now!

Morning Lisa! Oh, how I wish I was that way!

I think Pink said Mel was busy with something else right now...was it fishing?? Salmon on the west coast, and my beloved lobsters on the east. Me, stuck in the middle

Nice here today too, but storms are coming in tonight and tomorrow. Wasps, hornets, and horseflies have been horrific here this year! We've got those huge, 2" horseflies, that land in middle of your back or the animal's backs, and bite! Killed a couple of them last night on my deck and fed them to the chooks.....yum!

Mornin Debbi....no worries at all....we are all learning together and you confirmed my thoughts exactly on that boy. I appreciate you taking the time. regardless that boy is staying here so I can test mate him next spring and see what he produces. I'm just glad I have two nicely colored boys. I'm curious to see how he develops the rest of the way since his color has increased dramatically in the last month.

Mornin' Vicki! No problem, always glad to offer my opinions!

I have learned over the years to keep them to myself unless asked though....finally.

Just e-mailed my Sis in Cape Cod, MA. Hope they didn't blow away.

wow lisa! I am pretty much about the exact opposite. May have something to do with the fact that summer is my busiest time of year and so when I fall asleep its like I'm dead.

I'd love to see what you are working on with your coops! I am working on some plans now and love inspiration of seeing how others are doing things.

haha you're funny Debbi! Hope she is ok too! Wondering how this next round of culling is going to end up going here today. I'm not sure I will have the time to process them, but I will band them all so I can work on that through this next week as I have time. I just know that there are going to end up being quite a few, which is good since I am trying to get my breeding pens set up for next year so I can winter them over without too much trouble.

Hi Vicki,
I took the easy way out & ordered heavy duty carports & had them connected into one long 18" by 42' shed & moved all my chainlink panel pens under them. It was a big job but now mostly done & all the birds are settled into their new homes. I now have to make the cuts necessary to confine myself to 14 pens. I have to give up several breeds. I had cages made to house individual roosters so I can run pullets together while not breeding. I ousted a few of the second string backup roosters outside to free range & so far no mishaps. I will get it all figured out sooner or later I still have a month or so before I need to worry about the weather. I don't get snow here nor severe cold like many people do in other parts of the country. My Summer heat is a problem. Today is dsupposed to be 101 degrees. I am thinking of putting in a BIG box fan for circulation.

Hey Karen! Haven't seen you in a while, how are you? Sounds like you have been really busy over there. Also sounds like a good plan you have for holding them over winter! So, what breeds will you be holding onto then?

Girl..you have been missed! Glad to see you back...how are all the birds?

Math~ Mel is doing good..he is just busy getting some stuff cleared up with his mom's estate and I am sure he is fishing, he is also having a problem logging into BYC, Ms. Wynette gave us some help with that so hopefully he can get it all straightened out soon.
Wish I had time to fish.....but my best friend is bringing fresh salmon for me to BBQ tonight for dinner....it will suffice until we can get out there and get 'em. Both Steelhead and Salmon are running right now.

We are going fishing next weekend...maybe we will just pull up in Mel's driveway and drag him out of the house to go fishing with us, I don't think he will put up much of a fight. We will see what next weekend brings.

BTW....I agree 100% with Don about Mr. Dark. Too bad you don't have that other bird that I liked.

Now, off to get some photos of those little blue copper boys for Debbi and Gilavina as promised.
