he's a cross from my silver cuckoo Claude Hopper and one of my birchen girls. He's an interesting cross for sure. What I find interesting is that he has a white wing triangle....I'm not sure if I'll ever hatch from him but I sure do like the eye candy running on the lawn

Very nice looking boy, looks like he is a chunk!

His white looks whiter than what our boy is-ours looks to have some gold leakage going on! I'm excited to see what the babies will look like when they hatch

yeah...he is a chunk. I think hovering somewhere around 9 pounds at 6 months. I think the white on him has a lot to do with the birchen crossed in. Gold leakage wouldn't be that surprising as I've dealt with it too in my silver cuckoos. Its getting better as I've consistently culled those that show any signs of it and the number of those with leakage has significantly decreased from last year.
Good luck with the hatch! How many eggs do ya have set to hatch?

I'm in that weird period where some of my first chicks of the year have just started to lay, but not consistently yet, nor have they figured out their painting yet...and then I've got others that aren't laying yet, but are super close. The suspense is killing me.

5 eggs with 1 being iffy but hard to tell given the color of the egg, the egg color isn't as dark as some of my Welsummer but look better than my hatchery cuckoo han use to lay.

thanks, once these are done hatching we will be shutting down until mid-Dec, when we need to collect and incubate eggs for the kids 4-H projects. Since these are test hatches for the breed I have, I try to run when the kids don't need to as our incubator can only hold so many at a time. This Dec will be interesting because we will have 7 or 8 different pens set up with muliples of each breed- so keeping chicks separate will be a must.
