I only have one question. Who is going to fill in the remarks about the winning Marans. The judge in USA only only use their little check mark system. I know of no shows that use the old score card system.

Don, I've never entered a show before (I really worry about diseases and I'm just not sure that I want to take a chance in that regard) but I've been to many; I've seen several times where an entrant was able to ask a judge for specifics after the judging was done. Perhaps that will be the only way we'll know?

If anyone is interested in the chicken body parts. The APA shows this in the Standard of Perfection down to the last feather and toe nail.

I think once there is an approved standard we can determine what they are supposed to look like. Right at the moment no one seems to know.

I've not ever seen a judging at a fair, nor have I looked at poultry at a fair...I dunno why, though! I guess I'm just more attracted to an actual poultry show. I think so long as we're all following the proposed standard (previously posted), that's all we can do for now.

Wynette, I am in the same frame of mind as you on the bringing home disease. I show very little but will start up again in the fall. When we show we are exposing our birds to every disease that is in the building. I vaccinate for all diseases that I think might be around at the fall shows. I have not decided if I will show Marans at the fall shows or not. I have several other breeds that are much better at present.

what breeds do you show snowbird. You sound like you have a wealth of experience in the showring with chickens. Could you post some picture or pm me some??? I wish there was something out my direction.
