Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

yeah...same here. being between lincoln and omaha is handy for some things, but it drives the price up on stuff that's honestly not worth it...and puts the stuff that is worth it so far out of the price range for me that it gets depressing sometimes. She's heading over after her chores to pick it up for me and if all works out might be able to sort something out for sunday!!

My BLRW are lap birds, too!

I have to be careful not to trip on them b/c they hang around by my feet, waiting to be picked up!
Sooo sweet!

My girls are still laying pullet eggs - have to decide if I'm going to hatch over the winter!!

AND my very, very light Splash?? girl that I posted a pic of - just stated laying yesterday!!

Sorry - very grey and foggy out - no natural light to really show their color!
Her egg is the one with the big spots!

Great Score Vicki! Hope it works out! Did you contact Marquisella about her Wy's? Or perhaps...contact CPARTIST.

Debbi~ sorry that your eggies are not there yet.

I hope they don't keep ya hangin like when I shipped eggs to you.

Cadeau~ CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Pretty!

Yeah...I talked to Marquisella and she said she is selling out of them and won't have any available. I didn't know that CPARTIST had any...or that you had gotten yours from her until I just read your posts this morning...perhaps I shall have to pester them!
wink.png
I'm looking for as close to the old standard as possible with them as I'm picky about my wyandottes. They are kind of a first love in poultry for me...

I didn't know that Sue didn't have any available....that's a bummer!

Try CP.....ask her if she has lots of them and I will get some more too.

Oh CPARTIST.....are your ears burning yet?

It's sounding like I'm going to be PMing you about your BLR Wyandottes heehee...
I also checked out your website and like the BLRs I see and looked at your art too! I love using colored pencil on both the pastelboard and stonehenge....I love how buttery feeling it is working on them. What kind of pencils do you use? Prismacolor, Walnut Hollow (oil)....or? Its so good to know there are others out there that love both poultry and art!!

haha you are great Kim! I just posted a heads up so its not out of the blue that I PM...but I'll ask for ya. Did you get yours in eggie form or chicks, or started birds? Or I guess I should say, do you know whether she does one over the other or all three or etc? Trying to figure out whether I should see if I can track down a cockerel and winter him over so I have a start with breeding right away next spring, or if its smarter for me to just wait til spring and hold off breeding for another season (my least favorite option

). I'm also desperately looking for a Silver Penciled Wyandotte cockerel....got me a lead on one of them bad boys? They are super hard to track down!

She shipped me hatching eggs, Marans, Wellies and Wy's....she had 5 Wy eggs for me when she shipped and all 5 hatched. 3 girls and 2 boys, I should have kept the Splash male instead of the Blue. Live and Learn I guess...but I gave him to a friend of mine and I suppose I could beg to use him if I ever needed to.

Isn't her art divine? CP has lovely birds and she is pretty darn cool too!

That girl has some super duper egg packing skill....Math Ace told me once that nobody packages eggs like CP and I am here to tell ya that I second that.

Yeah...her art is lovely. It makes me happy to know someone else does colored pencil and is successful at it. I get tired of hearing people saying that painters are superior considering how much stinking work pencil takes!

I sent off a PM to her, hopefully she will have good news for both of us!

I better stop being a slacker and go get a few things done. I also have to pack before I head to work... Its a good day today so far!!!

Cpartist does eggs and chicks.... and NO ONE packs like her in either case.
I've seen her wyandottes in person and if I wasn't determined ABSOLUTELY determined not to have another single chicken variety at my house.... I would have some of those beautiful birds, Eye Candy in the highest degree, on my property in a heart beat!

I love a WIDE LOAD bird... and those babies have it going on. The boys are incredible!
