Getting back on topic of Marans, this is a cool photo that I got of my splash girl yesterday. I took this photo during the day it's just that their run gets tons of shade this time of year until the leaves fall so it looks like it is a nite photo, I just thought it was cool how it made her colors pop and how accurate this pic shows her colors true to life.
I notice that her comb is starting to flop over again...she must be the gal who has just started laying again. Sneaky girl....broody since late this spring and then a molt she just finished. It didn't even dawn on me that she could have been the one that started up, which of course means that my young Davis pullet from this year has yet to start.

Hi guys. I noticed on my Clyde this morning that he looks like he needs a shave.

I brought him inside to put some Neosporin on his funny looking leg feathers.
Any thoughts on this? It's hard to see, but all the shadow under his eye is peach fuzzy.

Sometimes they do get facial feathers, but they are not full fledged feathers..it's like a face down. I can't remember if it is undesirable if showing or breeding, or if it is just one of those things that is ok. Maybe Wynette, Geebs or Don will pop in and refresh my memory and enlighten us if they know.....but then again I could always try to look it up too.

Hi Mel. I'm new to all this, but I have a bad feeling that you might get me in trouble for asking how big that bar is on your tool?
Somewhere we have a 36" super whiz. Don't know why I'm holding onto it, as all the trees here on Long Island aren't that big anymore.
Anyway, anybody think I should shave Clyde, or just eat him?
He still won't stop crowing.
