Yeah...I did! I just finished reading it! Do you find the extras you give your birds like the kelp, flax seed and spices raise the price quite a bit in the bottom line of your feed bill? That stuff you get from that lady sounds awesome!
The kelp I purchase in 50# bags as I use it on everything from house plants to the garden, so when I found that I could get it in a large quantity that was more bang for my buck thats what I started doing. It really does last a while as I only sprinkle so much each time I mix feed, it lasts a long time too as long as you can keep it dry. The flax is pretty spendy but not much is used, I purchase that at a place in Portland Oregon that my mom and dad go to to get gluten free flour for my dad, I can buy it and Tumeric and Cinnamon in bulk (Tumeric is very spendy when purchased in small quantities) and save some $$.
I find the bottom line on my feed bill is effected when the girls don't lay or are molting or I have too many extra cockerels...when they ain't puttin out the eggs or the roosters aren't in my freezer yet is when I cringe.
I am looking into buying feed by the ton as we have a grain terminal about 8 miles up the freeway and if I can figure out how to store it and feed it before it goes bad or find someone to go in halves, I will be doing that. I can get a ton of grains for $130.00 ........now that would make me very happy.
