Nice tree in the picture there--did you fall it?? You would never find that around here unless it were a Live Oak! I miss Washington state--I was born there...

That job was in S.W. Washington, up on the Kalama River...which is just over the hill from Pinkchicks' house and a little closer to the Volcano.

Chicks are not really doing their thing yet. The pip has started to slowly zip. The idiot rocker is still rocking, and I've seen two more rock. End of day 21, so it's still early yet...

I was just coming back to the thread to ask you what was going on! Hopefully you will have fluffy butts in the morning if that one is zippin now...maybe he'll encourage the others to get their butts in gear!

Let's hope! I haven't gotten that "sinking feeling" in my gut yet, so there is hope. Does anyone else get that feeling?? You know, you look at the eggs, and you just know they're done? I hate that!

Had another bad chicken tonight; this time it was Olivia, Bad Charlotte's hatchmate!!

Lucky for her, she decided to run in when it really started to get dark. Kim, what are you teaching these bad girls???

There is just nothing you can do about it...I find it is even worse when I open up those beautiful eggies to see what happened and find fully formed little munchkins that didn't get out.

I agree that opening up and finding fully formed chicks is so sad. As much as I do not want a bunch of broody hen around, I have had so many failures that I can't make myself hatch for months. Just can seem to get the humidity level where it needs to be. One person in my area scolded me for trying to dry incubate until day 18, but I do not get results often with higher humidity so I must try something else.

Flower, since you're in the desert, it must be an adjustment that just needs to be figured out.
I'm sure you will find the perfect setting.
What is the "normal humidity" for your area?
I've lived out west, it's amazing the difference there is for the different areas of the country.

Good morning all

Got up at 3am to nothing in the bator, and went back to bed discussted. Got up at 7 let the dogs out, and went to make coffee. Didn't even want to go look in the bator. As I was starting the coffee, I heard that all too familiar, peep peep peep!

So far, one blue has hatched, and one one has started to zip. The idiot rocker is still rocking. So far, no one else is showing anything, but now at least I have a twinkle of hope! Sure wish these guys hatched more like my Silkies! Those things came out like popcorn popping! C'mon Splash baby!!!
