haha....we use it for feeding to the chickens during the colder months...at least that's when I am going to feed it. I had asked Kim for her recipe and was asking a couple questions on measurements. I plan to take my recipe and add some of the things Kim adds to see how they like it

I'm feelin pretty good since I found that place online that sells the spices really reasonably in bulk.

Spices for the chickens?

lol your chickens are spoiled lol. Is this with whole pumpkins or just witht the innerds?

last year I fed the whole pumpkin...all but the stem.

Spices like cinnamon, cayenne and tumeric are good for them. Esp the cayenne...it helps their circulation. I grew a few cayenne plants to see how they'd grow for me here and they did great, but I'll have to add more plants to be able to dehydrate and grind up enough for winter. So I'll be supplementing my stash of cayenne with some bulk I've bought.

Yes, and I think it cuts down on the possibility of sunburn somewhat too on those bare backs. Plus, it hides the "raw" look!

It must taste bad too, because they don't peck at it at all.

Could only get one chickie to look out from under Momma this morning. Momma is getting better about me putting my hand in there...but she sure can growl like an old dog telling ya to back off.

Oh my goodness! The cutes thing I've seen... I'm worried that one of my hens is stashing her eggs somewhere! Haven't had time to look very well. I want a broody hen. I left a clutch of eggs in one of my pens cause I thought the hen was feeling it but there was like 9egg she had stored up but I'm thinking she's not going to sit

Hey kim... can you pm me with that recipe and how to do it? Id love to be able to offer my chickies that during the winter!
If there is any boiling/cutting a certain way and such

Thanks Friends and yes Vicki that is the little Blue Copper. The Black Copper chick is in there somewhere LOL! Yesterday they were venturing out from under Momma. They are too cute running around.

Chev~ I don't have a recipe with exact amounts it's just something I toss together in a huge kettle and cook for them. I wonder if in the sake of time if Vicki could forward the email to you that I sent her. That would be fantastic.
