Hi Everyone!! I had a FANTASTIC day! Anna!!! Great to meet you and I really hope those girls do well for you with your blue cuckoo project!!
I had surprise after surprise today! I can't hardly stand it!! I should precursor this by saying that I will post photos soon. I just had to tell you guys how great today was first before i sort and download photos and etc.
First, my columbian wyandotte bantam hen I thought would place well, she won 1st out of the hens, then Best of Variety, and finally won Champion All other Variety for the Wyandottes. I was told I won $50 for W.B.A. Western Nationals Best of Variety -Columbian award that was in David Lefeber's honor, but when i went to the Wyandotte table later on they told me I won three awards and $85!!!!!! I about died! I never win anything!
For my other birds in Large Fowl:
Light Sussex pullet - 3rd (she started molting in the cage so got docked for the condition
live and learn eh?)
Light Sussex pullet - 1st, Best of Variety, Best of Breed
Coronation Sussex pullet - 1st, Reserve of Variety
Coronation Sussex Cockerel - 1st, Best of Variety
Blue Marans pullet - 1st, Best of Variety
Black Marans Pullet - 1st, Best of Variety
The Marans and the Coronations I ended up being the only ones to enter, but on the lights I had some good competition. Usually around here too, they don't give Best of Variety and so on for entries that are singles or a couple of birds unless they feel the bird was of good enough quality to warrant it.
You'd think that would be enough to put me over the edge in excitement...but it didn't end there!!!
On the Wyandotte Breeders of America Silent Auction I bid on two really nice Columbian Wyandotte Bantam trios and I won both of them!! One of them had a flurry of bids in the last 5 minutes, but I eeked in at the last minute! I can't stop looking at these little butter balls!!
And yet again....I won a bag of poultry feed!!!! I'm just about over the moon.
Thank you guys for all of your encouragement and finger crossing!!!
