Thanks flgarden! I love that little Splash baby. I hope its a girl too but I'm thinking after a couple of days watching it....that it just may be a male.

Time will tell.

Hatch is officially over.....all but 4 eggs hatched, 1 Marans egg and 3 Wellie eggs. I ended up culling the 2 Wellies that weren't doing so well, I don't think they would have made it to this morning anyway.

They are too cute! 3 Girls and 3 Boys. Plus the 2 Blue Laced Project Barnies.

1 Welsummer pullet.

3 of Gnarles' eggs hatched, 2 Black Coppers and 1 Blue Copper. Wouldn't you know it that both Black Coppers are from one of Bill's older daughters and those 2 BC's look identical to #1 and #4 from Lil' Bill's babies.

and here they all are taking a little nappie this morning before they get whisked away to Aunty Lynda's house to be chicksitted until sometime tomorrow or Friday while we are in Oregon providing some respite care for Ricks sister who has cancer. So sad...she is only 56 years old. I made sure to take plenty of chicken and chickie photos and the usb cable to plug into her TV.....she loves going through all the chicken pictures and she loves the chicks, wish I could take one along with us so that she could hold one of the cute fuzzies in her hands, but I think perhaps her Collie, Ishy, who doesn't leave her side would want to have a little snack.

Looking down in the brooder sure looks like a mess of chicks..doesn't it?

I don't like moving any more than the birds do. Avoid it like the plague! Maybe that's why I get along so well with my chickens!!!

for some reason it always is sad when getting out of a breed....esp if you've been raising them a while...i also have the same problem with people always wanting everything but what I advertise...makes me wonder sometimes.

Luckily the lady that's getting them wants my whole dark brahma flock and has been waiting to get a package deal! Even the 2 roos. Unlike the other people who emailed wanting disect my flocks. So I'm kind of happy she's gunna take them all. And her kids and her joined a poultry club this spring and are dying to show these babies so that adds alittle extra sweet to the bitter sweet feeling.
We have no percep here yet but I'm crossing my fingers for some snow......

Yes I'm a crazy christmas/ snow FAN.

I've have been waiting all year for a real snow. So Ill be alittle let down if I don't get it! I know lots of people hate people like me

but oh well... I hear there is one in every crowd!

That's great that she is willing to take all of them. I wonder which club she joined...there's only two in NE and most of us are in both of them...haha
a snow lady....oh no!!! I only like snow a couple of times a year...otherwise I like being able to get outside and work, even tho its cold. I think living in Minnesota for so long was snow overload and I haven't recovered yet.

that's a whole batch of sweetness you have there Kim! I'm having terrible withdrawls from baby chickers! Just think, if that splash is a boy and he turns out to be a hunk...you have a start of a flock eh?

Yep.. if that little splash turns out to be a male I will just breed him to my Splash gal.....by the time he is old enough to breed she will be 3 years old. Crazy how time flies.
