Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I'm pretty sure it was on this thread that we had a discussion about wearing red around roosters ....

Well, I have definitive proof that it sets my boys off BIG TIME.

I've been having trouble with a Cooper's Hawk stalking my flock. Saw him through the window making a pass at them so I flew out without grabbing my coat. RED SHIRT! Both of my roos were on me like dirt. My Ameraucana and BCM.

To heck with the hawk. They were positively postal!! Kicking me AND biting. Idiots. The Ameraucana was so bad, I picked him up and locked him up - with him biting my sleeves all the way!! My Ameraucana is usually a lap roo so I was perplexed. Then it occured to me that it might be the red shirt. I let him back out and in no time, both of them were at me again. So I grabbed my black jacket and headed back out. Absolutely NO reaction from either of them.

No more exposed red shirts around my boys!!

I would agree that Dolly Parton is flashy...but the other things, not so much.

According to Ms Dolly, "it costs a lot to look this trashy" hahahahahaha

One of my all-time favorite songs is by a group called Confederate Railroad. The name of the song is Trashy Women. Do any of you recall that tune? It's a great one!

I've got a speckled sussex roo that goes CRAZY around any leopard or spotted prints. It doesn' matter what color the print is in....
I either look like a giant roo or snake to him. Whichever it is.... it drives him CRAZY!

I've got another roo, a delaware roo, who has a foot fetish. He doesn't mess with shoes or boots, but if you are barefooted or wearing sandles you are likely to end up missing a piece of skin on the top of your foot.

Cool. Are they pure blacks or black coppers?

From what the seller has posted they are Birchens from GF line. So I hope they are nice. But in reading up on them BCM's lay the darkest eggs. I got these for $16 a chick compared to GF for $49. Eggs I've seen are $5.95 an egg. So I'll be pleased I think. So I'll work with these.

Hey pink I'm going to be seperating those solid blue hens to tedt over my solid blue cochin. I could also put my splash cochin roo over a few couldn't I?
