Looks like 11 may be the final count; 3 Black Ameraucanas, 2 Blue Ameraucanas, 3 BCM, 2 Cuckoo Marans, and the lone white bearded Silkie - running the show. I haven't unplugged the incubator yet because I've had several tell me that Marans can take their time but it really doesn't seem like anything else is going to happen. Nevertheless, I'm THRILLED with the 11 I do have!!!!
They had their first hard boiled egg yolk just a few minutes ago. Already getting them completely spoiled!
All is quiet in the brooder which suggests they are content.
wonderful!! Now we just need to start crossing fingers
that you have a boy and girl cuckoo, and have at least one boy in the BCMs to get you going! Sounds like you definitely have a start in the ameraucanas too!! Now I can't wait for more pics!
Ok, so here are the pics ...
The Cuckoos (I'm thinking boy and girl because of the head spots and lighter legs/beak on the one with the larger head spot. He also has slightly lighter body down although that isn't entirely clear in this picture.)
The whole gang
Short outside toe (BCM). I've heard it talked about on this thread. Now I see it!!
Several of the chicks have feathers on the middle toe as well ... Certainly will solve my problem with clean legged Blue Coppers
