That makes me ill! It's bad enough when I have to break up the spats here; can't imagine actually getting pleasure in watching them duel to the death. I keep my leaf rake handy, and can back off all spats by simply putting it in between them, and moving one back into the pen.
The sad part is, the only 2 roos I want to keep, are the ones that want to kill each other. So, one gets let out in the yard, one stays in the run. Seperate "night pen" for Clyde at night...
Mine are all really terrified of the broom, all I do is pick it up and hold the bristle part up in the air and they all scatter and start the Alert Song
I'm amazed the roos here get along so well in general. I have one real naughty teenaged bcm who wants to challenge all the other roos but he's kinda growing out of it now. I don't think they really want to keep fighting once they get tired out.
The only bad thing I've done is sic Whistle (blue copper boy) on a few naughty roos when they try to attack me or get out of line. It never turns into anything, Whistle just wing dances at them and they run away, if they don't then he chases them and then they run away LOL!
Yes, most of the time, it's peaceful here. I've got 8 roos that run together in the yard, no problems. The only problem is when I let Clyde out into the yard with the younger roos, one will challenge him. Doesn't take long for the young one to figure out that Clyde is da man!
But..if I let Clyde and his brother, Roy out or in together, that's a different story. They don't quit. I've tried letting them in and out together, just recently in fact, to see if the problem has lessened, but they are still very serious about it, and will carry on a lot more than I can take, so I seperate them. Funny, they were raised together, had a huge spat at about 9 weeks of age and had to seperate them for about 2 weeks. Put them back together, and all was good. They were best buds for the longest time! Then, just one day out of the blue, they came out of the coop together, and just started tearing into each other! That was about 5 months ago, and they have not gotten along since then. When they were buddies, they would never be any farther apart than 3 feet or so. Very sad, and now time/space consuming.

Thanks. They have their faults, but I love them both! Both are such gentlemen to me and the ladies. I can pick either one of them up, anytime, anywhere, no qualms.

Believe me when I say, these are the ONLY ONES I've had any luck with! Roy is better in some respects, Clyde better in others. "Build the barn first, paint it later". This applies here. Both are big, beefy boys; and I like their typiness. Color needs improvement on both, Clyde has a shorter back, Roy has a 5 point comb, Clyde a 6 pointer but I like the way his sits better. Both have great shank/toe feathering, and both have excellent temperaments!! This is what I have to restart from...I could do worse, especially from what I've seen lately!
What kind of squash was it Mel? Maybe she kept back some seeds for you to plant next spring?? Got any lampshade on the head type of pics to share with us??
