Unless the egg color is from the end of the hens' cycle....can you talk with the seller and learn if the girls gave darker eggs earlier in their laying cycle???
Last year I learned that buying shipped eggs during the Holiday Season was not wise. So many more packages are shipped during the days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I feel the Post Office is over loaded and less care is given to the fragile egg boxes.

I'm gonna have Pink hatch me some of her eggs, then. They are bigger than any of my other birds' eggs and have real good (for me) color!

Think about it...good size, respectable color, and the darn thing lays regularly all winter!

But then, there's the other side of the coin. I have people beating my door down looking for Marans pullets.
I could be like some of the others... hatch, sell, and take the money!
Hey, they are MARANS, aren't they?
My gut feeling is to chuck them. I don't need more problems in my life right now.
And this, to me, is something to walk away from.
I am not desperate for the cash, especially when I know it will bite me in the *ss next year!

X3! You have lovely egg color, I sure wouldn't want to see those eggs diminish it! And yes, it will come back to bite you on down the line. Listen to your gut.

Had our first measureable snowfall last night. While it was only about 2", it may as well had been a foot with all the STINK EYES I got this morning!

The Silkies were all walking around with their heads cocked to the sides, trying to see what the heck that white stuff is!
