Congrats on the incubator!!! I am very excited for your son and his upcoming project. I wish my girls were laying right now so I could give him some eggs. I haven't seen a Marans egg in a couple weeks now.

No worries Pink, he is going to run a NYD hatch for me for some eatting egg layers. We have a friend here in FL (from the other side of the state) who is good friends with Bev of all people. We sat yesterday chatting with him about the Marans project DS is taking on. He offered to put DS in contact with her since she also lives here in FL. So hoping he gets to talk with her some, and maybe see her own birds first hand too.

Our 11 month old son helped feed the chicks last night, nice to have an animal lover so young. So my days are split between the house with him, and outside during his naps. LoL he usually spends a day or two at grandmas each week so I can be outside most of the day doing things.

Me, Me , ME.... I just this one!

It is when the blade of the comb is spilt horizontally, like some one took a pair of scissor and just Snipped the blade into two pieces....

Really?!? That's crazy! I will have to look it up and see one. Thanks Lisa!

I love the size and color on your girls ( #92 and #96) THey both told me they want to come down to FL for vacation for the winter.... lol

Vicki, Hope your baby recovers okay. Poor little thing. I'm glad you found her in time..and yes its always the best ones and something always seems to go wrong when we are not there!!!!

I'm trying to get caught up on reading. I have a big project due this week so have to work on that and just worked extra 12 hr shifts this weekend so I got
nothing done all weekend either grrrr.

Thanks Kim! I kept her in my art studio area last night and was woken by flapping wings and some surprised calls from her. She had jumped out of the box I had her nestled in with a towel and low watt heat bulb to warm her up. She was pretty shocky last night, but must have snapped to in the middle of the night. So I settled her back in and this morning was greeted with a bright eyed little look. I got her to drink plenty of water with electrolytes and a couple of eager mouthfuls of a warm mash of layer crumbles and oatmeal...I haven't taken off the bandages and probably won't for today. I did treat the spot on her neck and it looks like it is scabbing over nicely...so fingers crossed, she might be on the mend

She is the sweetest little thing...doesn't complain about anything or freak out about anything...just watches and observes...its good to see her out of shock.

I have to agree...I like the bantam barnies way more than the LF at this point. i just think they have better type out of the ones I've seen around here. Wouldn't mind having some myself

This bantam Marans girl I think is the only one I'm going to put into the breeding pen in the spring if she makes it...she just had the best body type out of all of them. Oh...and the bonus is that when I was looking her over carefully last night I see she is getting in a ton more coppering on her neck!

Thanks Flgarden! Good luck with your studies and project!

Question for you all and for Don.

Here is a BC male I had that had a very short and blunt keel. Can this be corrected in the offspring? If it can be bred out, what type or body of the opposite gender of the bird afflicted should a person look for to correct it?

thanks for the well wishes on this little girl. I really do hope she makes it. She has been one of my favorites for quite a while now!
