Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

That is my luck. All I wanted was one Splash roo, and got one Splash pullet!

An all pullet hatch here would really be nice!

Where did you put these eggs, Kim? I can't find em' and I don't want them to get frost-bit...

I know, I know.....I don't have an incubator.

Well, it's still a great thing to be Pinkchicks' neighbor...because she DOES have a bator!

BRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! Had to come inside to warm up a bit. Got the coffee brewing as I type. I moved around about 30 birds...shifting into breeding pens and bringing some up from the south grow out pens. I still have quite a few to move, but I'm definitely getting there. I have a strange feeling we might be in for an exceptionally cold winter. Same as last year....didn't get tons of snow, but minus temps and 0* temp for weeks at a time. My poor young birds still growing out don't have enough meat on them to stay as warm as some of the bigger ones I fear.

Yes, I'm starting to fear that here too. We are supposed to get a lot of snow here too, according to the persimmon seeds...

Got a few days of warm coming up, the little ones are going out! Cross my fingers, and hope for the best.
