What is it that you have hatching on NYD?? Was it the Birchens? I won't make the first, but I've got 5 Silkies cooking, due on the 8th. Need to candle on Christmas day to see if they are fertile. Guess I could do it now and see something, but I want to be sure.

X2 on the Wine Bator! You guys wasted no time putting eggs in...hot darn.

Are the lights LED?

the eggs were actually started in our other homemade incubator, DH was trying to get the wine-bator ready for setting on Dec 12th but the parts didn't arrive in time so we stacked them in the other one.

The lights are LED- round lights that you could mount under kitchen cabinets, provides a good amount of light

thanks for the links, have them saved to my favorites so I can go back and read as this is one of the breeds my DD is raising!

He is a good support and sport about it all, he got bit by the bird bug this fall when we went to pick up our female peachick and he saw red golden pheasants- let's just say we now have a pair and they hang out with our pair of peachicks. He doesn't mind the chickens at all. He helps me teach and explain information to the kids and jumps right in- he designed our coop, pens, nesting boxes, grit/calcuim feeders and helps with culling when needed. Couldn't ask for any better, after all we work together day in and day out and have for the past 8 years

My DH and I have done the same for the last 8 years....I wouldn't trade spending every waking moment with him for anything. It's the best!

BTW: Are those your NYD hatch eggies in there Hens?

Agree with you on that! Yes those are our NYD hatch eggies, we moved them from the other bator over to this one once we had it all tuned in

Told DH that I could use the old bator to start another hatch if we get a few more eggs from a couple of DD's Andalusian pens.

Hey next year if you ever want someone to test out some Andies you just let me know.....I would love having a few girls in the layer flock. I don't have any white egg layers and they are blue so they fit the bill perfectly.
