yes lots of note taking, wondering if you could use some food coloring dye- a different color of each hen so when they laid their egg a stripe of color would end up marking the eggs- that way you could house the rooster with 3 girls at a time

keeping a key of what color dye went with what hen number or color band.

Guess you could, but chasing down hens and squirting food dye up their patooties for some reason, doesn't appeal to me right now! Nor would the girls care for it too much I'd imagine!

I think I'd rather expend the energy by building 3 pens...

Now, if someone could design a panty for the hens, that had a hole with ink or dye impregnated around the hole, that would be great!! Kind of like a paint breeding harness for sheep, except put it on the hen? Oh my, I need to get out of the house!

Back with pics!!
Not the best b/c noone wants to go outside in the bitter cold...

Here's the boy with the big comb - your thoughts would be appreciated!

Here's his topline and poor single tail feather!!
Think he'll get his tail back with his first adult molt?

Ok...I was at work for most of the day, so I know I probably missed the rest of the carnation conversation. I would love to hear if there's been some breakthroughs! I gotta run out an shut up my birds for the night and guess what! It was my little bantam BCMs first day outside again. I had her in a confinement pen so she could scratch around in the lawn without having to get attacked and reinjure her neck from the boys. It was so sweet...the whole flock came up to see her and hung out with her for the afternoon I guess. At least that's what I was told! yay! She's doing so good!

Cadeau ~ Better pics would sure help, can't tell much of his body with him sitting down.

I like his color. Ear tufts match hackle color, nice eye color too. He has the hackles with no stripes in them, something I would like to see here. Not crazy about his comb, too many points, sits low on his neck, and may have a sprig off the end? (last pic). What's with the tail? Is he being pecked on or is he molting now?? I also see a white wing feather on his left wing. Better pics of him standing upright is needed to say much more than that. Take a frontal, profile, and above shot if possible.
