I'm sure some of them do, IF you have an NPIP inspected flock, that also has a USDA approval. Check out the links in your area for USDA approval of egg selling to commercial businesses like restaurants and such. Do your research first, so you are forearmed! Don't take everything you read on the web as Gospel either, go to the sources!

Oh yes, that's why I'm on here. I figured you guys could tell me if this one web site was totally full of BS or not, and where to start. We just have a small flock and small chicken pen, so we won't be starting any commercial production. We keep the eggs for ourselves and our friends. We may sell the duck eggs when we start getting them in the spring.

Two things would concern me, One she is a New Farm (Marans probably should not be a first choice for first time chickens) and two she is expecting them to breed true and not worry about genetics. I don't know any chickens that I would not look some at genetics when breeding. She also need to correct they typos and update her web page since Marans have been admitted to the APA and when in American Join the Marans of America Club, like on the hat she has pictured and be proud of it ..... JMHO

Marans are not that uncommon, If you can get the kind of money for those french omelets let me know where. Seen that comment WAY TOO MUCH.... I don't even sell my Marnas eggs because they have small bits of blood. Maybe in France they don't have that issue... but I do and I don't want to see that in my expensive omelets

She is full of it on that comment.

Dark Eggs that is what is special about the French Black Copper Marans, great birds, but they are a project.

I am not telling you not buy from her, but you need to see what her birds look like NOW those are 2-3 year old pics and not her breeders now. If she didn't breed with genetics in mind you really need to look at her flock. Probably does not look that good now.

Now go find you some good birds and get those lovely egg for your basket!

Thanks Donna. I'd likely go visit before I bought or ask for updated photos. Or, I might just order some chicks from mydarkeggs.com, if they have any left for spring hatching.

Yes, I know Brenda Little very well. Lovely lady. She is President of the Marans of America Club. Her birds are stunning. Both the birds and their eggs win at multiple shows with quality competition. I think she also has some friends breeding from her strain which is pure imported French lines. If she doesn't have any available, ask if she has a freinds breeding her strain.
Happy New Year,
Karen Tewart in western PA

Not saying her birds are better than anyone else's, but Brenda Little (Little Peddler) is the President of the MOAC (Marans of America Club), and is also a diplomat (?) to the French Marans Club. According to her website, which I looked at today, she has nothing for sale. you may want to e-mail her directly?
