Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Mine definitely drink AND eat more than the others, but they're also larger/heavier than most of my others other than the Orps and some of the Wyandottes.
But - they also seem to take longer to finish growing and filling out! (and eating everything in sight!)

I think my BLRW love the water the best, as far as playing in it!!
They come running anytime they hear the water run or the hose being drug out!!

Hi Marcy!

Could you get a photo of this guy with his wing outstretched and a full on front view of him? Also do you have a photo of the pullets with the excess color in their breasts? Anyway to get a photo of this guys sire while we are at it?

This definitely is a little cockerel.

edited to add: I have been back to look at him about 5 times now since I posted a response and he looks as though he has duckwing in him, such as Wheatens. Are you sure the parent birds are Blue Coppers?

Hi Roberta!

I posted an updated photo of your little namesake Blue Laced Barnie boy over in the Barnie thread....he is looking great. He is also quite a bit larger than the Marans cockerels that he is growing out with, they are 8 weeks or so. I would not have thought that a Barnie cross Wyandotte would be bigger than the Marans.

What you doing up so early for a left coaster?
I think i just called in sick. But I really need to do things, instead of playing on the computer.
There is an MCCA show in 2 weeks, anyone considering entries for the egg show?
It's in W Springfield, Mass on Jan 14

Il Stoopido? Gonna go check now.
