Hi Marcy!

Could you get a photo of this guy with his wing outstretched and a full on front view of him? Also do you have a photo of the pullets with the excess color in their breasts? Anyway to get a photo of this guys sire while we are at it?

This definitely is a little cockerel.

edited to add: I have been back to look at him about 5 times now since I posted a response and he looks as though he has duckwing in him, such as Wheatens. Are you sure the parent birds are Blue Coppers?

I bought them as hatching eggs, they were sold as blue coppers. I did get only blue, black, and splash from the eggs. So seems like the seller was truthful.
Here's those 2 pullets:

Here's the cockerel. He was sick when this photo was taken, so he's not looking that good (very pale comb). I ended up culling him. He had a huge mass (tumor?) inside him

I'll take some more pics of the little cockerel and post later. Thanks for helping

I too, would like to know how you determined the sex of these chicks.

The wraps on their legs looks like the bandage stuff that sticks to itself. Vets use it for bandages on dogs, cats, horses. Also our doctor's office uses it when we get our blood drawn to hold the cotton ball in place when they are finished..

I'm thinkin everyone must be outside enjoyin the weather. Did it get pretty nice down your way Debbi? It was nice here, but by the time I got out of work the wind had picked back up. But the best part is that the days are starting to get longer!

I even got a dozen eggs out of my little Marans friends too!

Hey Vicki, it was lovely here today, but that dog gone wind was still blowing here too. I had to go to town for my food today, so didn't get much else done. Ran into an Amish couple in the store, they must be new to the Community. Asked if they knew anyone there that would butcher chickens for me? Told them, one of their own had helped to build my coop, and it was now his problem that I have too many roos!

The woman just died laughing, and invited me down there to ask around. The husband said he was pretty sure one of them could do the deed for me. I've had it with Blue Butt! He lurked behind me at a distance today, and waited until I rounded the corner to the door, then does a mad dash, and threw himself full force at the door, just as I was closing it!

HE IS SOOOOOO SOUP!!!!

Hey I'll send you some mean roos that you can add to for the Amish to butcher they don't even have to send them back haha.

I decided I am going to make a little pink tutu like my dd had when she was little. Whenever Storm my meanest Bl copper roo tries something next time I am going to make him wear it around the yard and take pictures LOL! That will fix his wagon.

I sure hope you can find someone to take those nasty boys and other extras off your hands. Not only would it give ya peace of mind to walk freely around your place, but would save on feed eh?

Starting the thinking and evaluation process for who I'm gonna start out my hatching season test mating. I am pretty sure once I get going, I'm gonna have a ton of test hatches and will be hatching for a few months. I'm also thinkin of building a photo booth of sorts that's collapsible so I can put birds in it and get nice clean shots. I'm tired of this wind and trying to get photos. That last one of Gigantor I got the other day was by far the best I could get. Gonna have to keep trying...I just wish I could get a good shot in to show just how broad he is...you could set a dinner plate on his back or use him as a foot rest and still have room.

For those of you mailing eggs or chicks, or anything to Missouri; please be advised it will now take even longer than it does now! The idiot higher ups in the USPS, have decided to close the doors to the Springfield, MO major hub. That means ALL mail coming into MO, will now be routed through Kansas City. I just got a parcel from a med supplier in CA, that usually takes 2-3 days to get to me by Priority, and has for the last 3 years. This last parcel took FIVE DAYS!! It sat in the KC hub for 2 days. If anything, the USPS should've closed that hub, even though it is bigger. But their performance record has stunk for quite a few years now, and it sure won't be getting any better now! Springfield, MO will now be losing over 200 jobs when they close shop there. Sad for them, and sad for us too!

craaaappp! That stinks! KC hub already sucks....things sit there for days before it heads our way, thinkin it will take even longer now to come out of KC no matter where its headed, eh?

I've got an Amish couple that come to my place to take care of my culls for me. They charge me $2 a bird and do ALL the work. I provide the buckets and the bowls. They do all the rest. They will come for 1 or 250 or more. (More than 50, they bring a machine!!!!) And I've got a neighbour that wants ALL the parts but feathers. Combs, organs, feet, the works. I feel so blessed!!!
